JHWalter Machinery Auction Team jhwalter.co.uk/business 12 PROPERTY | BUSINESS | PLANNING | ENERGY Farm machinery and equipment go under the hammer The JHWalter machinery auction team have had a very busy last few weeks with two auctions having been carried out, one in Lincolnshire at Welbourn and the second at Tithby in Nottinghamshire. A great deal of time and care was spent in ensuring that the viewing and sale days were as Covid secure as possible to ensure our staff and customers were kept safe. The sale at Welbourn, on behalf of R S Fowkes Ltd and Dycote Farms Ltd, took place on a blissfully warm September day and the temperatures ensured that buyers were keen to bid on the good range of equipment for sale. The sale highlights included a Weaving 6m tine drill selling for £13,200, a 1996 Bailey 14tonne trailer for £6,200, a JCB 541-70 Agrisuper handler for £34000, a 2011 JD 8345R for £60200 and the final lot a 2009 Claas Lexion 570 TT for £56,800. The sale at Tithby, on behalf of the executors of C J Price, also managed to supply us with a dry day, which have been in short supply recently, and buyers from all over the East Midlands bid for a range of arable and stock equipment. The highlights for this sale included a McHale 991 LBER bale wrapper for £3800, a 2005 Marston Ace 14 tonne trailer for £5,400, a mint Lely Welgar RP545 baler for £9,800, a highly sought after 2012 Land Rover Defender for £16,000, a 2011 Case 140 Maxxum with a front loader was snapped up by a buyer from Northern Ireland for £27,000 but the locals came back and secured an extremely tidy 2015 Case puma 145 for £35,200. The sale concluded with a 2007 MF Cerea combine being knocked down for £28,000 which was real value. The quote of the two days came from our Senior Partner and highly experienced auctioneer, Mr Ian Walter who commented, “I have not sold from behind a face-shield before, but all was well once I realised you must peel off the protective film to see clearly!”.
