The JHWalter Energy Team successfully secured planning permission for a single 500kW wind turbine for P A Arden & Son Ltd on their land located to the east of Newton on Trent, Lincolnshire in July 2014.
P A Arden & Son Ltd started looking at the potential of installing a wind turbine on its landholding in the Autumn of 2013. After detailed feasibility and planning work, a turbine on their landholding was unfeasible. Further feasibility was undertaken and agreement with Furrowland Ltd was obtained for P A Arden & Son Ltd to lease land from Furrowland Ltd to potentially install a turbine next to the existing Furrowland Ltd’s turbine. P A Arden & Son Ltd was keen to install a turbine in the hope of reducing their high energy bills, obtain energy security and reduce the businesses carbon footprint. After a number of months of detailed feasibility work, JHWalter submitted a planning application to the local planning authority for a single 77m tip high 500kW wind turbine.
The application went to planning committee in July 2014 and was successfully granted permission. The committee stated that ‘…It is not considered that any local adverse impacts of the development would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits of the development when assessed against the policies in the NPPF…’.
The location of the wind turbine was chosen after extensive feasibility work, including the following considerations:
