JHW are specialists in renewable energy technology for the generation of both power and heat. Our Energy and Planning team are delivering energy projects for clients across a range of different technology and scales determined by client needs and site constraints. We are wholly independent providing assured and unbiased advice to our clients.
Renewable energy projects are financially supported by Feed In Tariff (FIT), and Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) for power and by the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for heat generation. The support is index linked and guaranteed for a 20 year period. Additional income streams are derived from onsite usage of power with the export of surplus electricity to the national grid.
Returns on capital for many renewable energy projects ranges from 10% to 20%, and where schemes such as the Enterprise Investment Scheme are appropriate these returns can be higher. Not everyone has the opportunity to develop such projects due to location, resource etc., but conversely some with the development potential would prefer to look at a joint venture as opposed to debt funding. In some instances such as AD Feed In Tariff can be combined with Renewable Heat Incentive to increase overall returns.
